This is great news for all Women aspirants who wants to join the Indian Army Military Police as they are now allowed to join as a Soldier in the Military Police. Initially, this decision was taken by Hon’ble PM Mr. Narendra Modi in January 2018 to induct Women for the first time in PBOR role in Corps of the Military Police. And now, the first advertisement regarding this has been published today.
This offer was first suggested in front of the Defence Ministry by the Army Chief, Gen Bipin Rawat as soon as he took over to the Army Chief position. And recently, this offer gets approved by the Defence. Just after getting the approval by the Defence Ministry, Indian Army has kicked off the Online Application of for the recruitment of Women in the Corps of Military Police.
This step is regarded as the breakthrough for Women in the Indian Armed Forces. As of now, they were only allowed to join in the Indian Armed Forces as an Officer, but now they can also apply for the Soldier selection given them more opportunity to serve the nation.
“Online registration will start today for the recruitment of women as jawans and the last date for it is June 8. The project was first mooted by Army Chief Gen Bipin Rawat soon after he took charge of the force,” Army officials said.
Talking on this great move, Defence Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the Government has taken a historic step to induct Women in the Military Police giving them equal opportunities like Mens to join in the Indian Armed Forces.
As far as their recruitment is concerned, Women will be inducted in the Indian Army in a graded manner which comprises of 20 percent of the total Corps of the Military Police. Their role will vary from Inquiring Crime cases to offer their service in different fields in the Indian Army.
According to some sources, the Indian Army is planning to induct around 800 women in the Military Police at a preliminary stage with over 52 personnel induction per year. This is really great news for all women aspirants wishing to join Indian Army. As per government data, the Army has 3.80 percent of its workforce as women, the Air Force has 13.09 percent and the Navy six percent.
